Tastes Like Burning

Asbestos and Wilsome in the "Tastes Like Burning" Fire Performance at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival were given the "Best Act" award. The "Insane Danger Fire Challenges" have plans to continue at the Arizona Renaissance Festival in February and March, and we are courting the Colorado Renaissance Festival for June and July. We haven't signed Sioux Falls yet but are completely confident that we will be returning to that feel-good show.

We do just about everything Momma told us not to do. We run with scissors, we stare at the sun, and we play with fire. We eat fire, that is to say we swallow torches. We breathe fire, that is to say we drink gas then we blow big fireballs. We play with our fire and on our time off we play tag games with fire. Flame on! Fire is a living, breathing entity. It devours, it is one of the most elemental of all spirits. One does not practice fire. One enters into an accord with fire; one takes fire into oneself becoming one with the flame. We are expert Fire manipulators. We are Masters of Fire. We smoke other fire eaters. Prometheus would be proud.

Wilsome is blowing a 'torchless' fireball

This is not stage magic. What we are working with is real fire. We are actually lighting ourselves on fire. In essence, we become the wick for flame. The Occupational and Safety Hazards Administration, OSHA, has required that material safety data sheets be prepared for the fuels that we use. There are no parlor tricks to make this easy. There is no magic balm that we coat our mouths with to protect us from the fire. There is no Hollywood magic happening when my skin is on fire. This isn't special cartoon fire that burns at room temperature. Fire is hot, and fire burns.
