Zach Info
Zachariah Joseph Busch is an multi-medium artist from St. Paul, MN. He works with bone, antler, ivory, and wood carving; acrylic, oil, and watercolor painting; and custom canvas signmaking.
Zach was born on Novermber 2nd, 1979, in Janesville, WI, to a music teacher and a carpenter/musician. At the age of 5, he moved to Minneapolis, MN. His first inkling that he would spend his life as an artist came when he was 7 years old and realized that art class was his only incentive for going to school each day. This inspired him, against great adversity, to pursue his dreams.
After struggling with traditional teaching methods in grade- and middle school, Zach knew that a conventional high school was not for him. He enrolled in the Carmichael Studio Arts High School in downtown St. Paul, seeking an outlet for his creativity and ideas. Here, he learned many of the techniques that would be the building blocks of his developing talent.
After high school, Zach tried various jobs, from carpentry, screen printing, and middle management, to "questionable sales" and photography. A deep dissatisfaction with the increasing mundaneness of daily life led him to seek a different direction.
Since 2003, Zach has removed himself from normal society, living a nomadic lifestyle in a custom-built yurt that he made himself and dedicating his life to the pursuit of art.
